Give your students the chance to experience the performing arts first hand. An NYT "Arts in the Schools" program involves every student in as many as four classrooms. NYT instructors work with each class for thirty minutes a day over a three week period. Then your students are ready to perform, using music, costumes, props, and scenery, all provided by NYT. Smiles and applause will be provided by your audience of parents and student peers!

Why NYT for Your Students?

Flexible - Performance materials are adapted to the specific needs of your students.

Hands-on-Learning - Emphasis is on the process of creating a performance together.

Inclusive - Each student has a meaningful performance experience. Every child feels like a star!

Age Appropriate - NYT has a wide variety of scripts that are accessible to the learning capacity of each grade level.

Multi-Disciplinary - Every script includes music, dance and drama.

Team Building - Instructors emphasize the importance of teamwork in creating a play.

Individualized programs are available for churches, schools, day care centers, preschools, home schools, businesses, etc.  The instructors of Northwest Youth Theatre are ready to pack up their props and bring them to your school or group. NYT provides scripts, sets, props, costumes and the director/instructors to help your group put on a show! This school year alone, our four instructors are producing shows with more than 1100 students! Please call Lois at 541-891-0471 for a quote.  Charges for Artist in Residency programs are determined by number of students and the student contact hours.

Music, Movement and Story Drama

for children from 3 years to 5 years old

Each year Northwest Youth Theatre teaches several sessions of KinderDrama, an exciting music and story drama class for 4 through 6 year old children. A love of music and stories is shared by most children, and KinderDrama gives them the opportunity to meet new friends as they explore music, movement and story drama! Costumes and props make the experience even more fun. The director of the group is Lois Lents. With over 20 years of experience in the field of children’s theatre, Lois loves working with very young children.

Northwest Youth Theatre is dedicated to providing opportunities for children to explore their interest in the performing arts in a fun, safe and nurturing environment. Class size is limited so students have plenty of interaction with the teachers. The emphasis of this class is not on performance, but on the experience of singing, moving to music, games and acting out stories. It’s a lot of fun and children begin to develop confidence and self-expression skills that will benefit them for a lifetime! Of course, we will have a demonstration for family and friends on the last day of our classes. Parents are welcome to attend KinderDrama sessions at any time.
