Performing arts camps for students from kindergarten through eighth grade in July are being offered by North- west Youth Theatre. Registration is open now. Forms are being distributed in public schools and at the Klamath County Library and Rachel's School of Dance. To request a form or for more information, call Lois Lents, the theatre's Managing Director, at 891-0471. Tuition assistance is pro- vided to families who qualify. "As a not-for-profit corporation, it's our policy that no child will be turned away from our programs because of an inability to pay. "The performing arts can benefit all children and we continue to be committed to helping every child we possibly can. "We make every effort to live up to our motto of 'It's All About Kids'," Lents said. All of the camps will be held at Rachel's School of Dance at 638 Klamath Ave. The camps are: "KinderDrama" for children 4 through 6 years of age from 9 to 10:15 a.m. July 8 through 12. Also from 9 to 10:15 a.m. July 22 through 26. It's a mix of music, games, dance, drama and storytelling with a demonstration for parents on the final day. "The Land of Many Colors" for children who will be in the first through the third grades from 9:30 a.m. to noon July 15 through 19. This is a musical comedy with speaking lines, dancing and singing for all participants. There will be a performance on the final day. "It's Saturday" for children who will be in grades fourth through eight from 1:30 to 4 p.m. July 15 . through 19. It's a fast-paced musical revue focusing on all the fun things like to do on the best day of the week - Saturday. There will be a performance on the final day.

"Celtic Tap Dance" for children 8 years old and older from 10:30 to 11:45 July 22 through 26. Riverdance type tapping that has gained prominent popularity in the past few years will be taught. There will be a demonstration on the final day. "Dance For the Stage" for children 10 years old and older from 1 to 2:15 p.m. July 22 through 26. Basic dance steps to music from Broadway shows will be taught. There will be a demonstration on the last day. "Walt Disney's The Jungle Book" for children who will be in the second through the sixth grades from 9 a.m. to noon July 29 through August 2. Music, costumes and speaking lines for lots of kids. There will be a performance on the last day. Other performances, camps successful, or on horizon In addition to the performing arts camps for students from Kindergarten through eighth grade to be held in Klamath Falls in July, Northwest Youth Theatre will be conducting other camps this simmer in Sacramento and Tulelake. Lois Lents, the theatre’s managing director, and Cathy Baker are also involved this month in helping students in “Artists in Residency” programs at Ferguson and Malin elementary schools. At Malin, performances by the primary grades dents from kindergarten through eighth grade to be of "The Land of Many Colors" and the older students of a 1960’s musical revue called “At the Hop” were scheduled to have been held Thursday evening at the elementary school. At Ferguson, the third-grade students will perform "It's a Jungle Out There," a musical comedy, during the school day and at 7 p.m. next Tuesday. Admission to all of these performances is free.
